Commemorating and Celebrating the Rights of Mother Earth for the Seventh Generation: Sharing our Vision of the Past, Present and Future

In honor of the Rights of Mother Earth and the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and Nations the American Indian Law Alliance, NGO in consultative status with ECOSOC, Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development and Native Children’s Survival presents the screening of Robby Romero’s music picture, Who’s Gonna Save You. A special film message, We Are The Seventh Generation, from Taos Pueblo Day School Students will also be screened followed by a panel discussion led by Indigenous Youth.
We are honored and proud to announce the following Indigenous youth presenters:
Ta’Kaiya Blaney (Sliammon), 12 years old, will present a statement regarding Canada’s treaties with First Nations’ Peoples. Ta’Kaiya will also address the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the rights of First Nations children, and the rights of Mother Earth. Brian Monongye (Hopi) community activist, artist and coordinator of the Native Youth Cultural Exchange and Chisa Oros (Zuni/Yaqui) youth organizer and community coordinator of the Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development and coordinator of the Native Youth Coalition.
Onondaga Elder, Chief Oren R. Lyons will be a part of the panel along with Tonya Gonnella Frichner, also Onondaga. Ms. Gonnella Frichner is President of the American Indian Law Alliance, Chairperson of the Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development and the past North American Regional Representative to the UNPFII.
The panelists will address the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth.
From the front lines of climate change, Who’s Gonna Save You presents an Indigenous perspective on the current global crisis concerning climate change. This ‘music picture’ is a combination of music video and motion picture woven into a poetic call to consciousness for the restoration of life in balance. It features Apache youth skateboard champion, Tracey Polk Jr. and the music of Native Rock recording artist Robby Romero.

On Tuesday night, 21 May 2013, Robby Romero and Ta’Kaiya will perform at the United Nations Cultural Event.
